Shirley Ann Taylor

Shirley Ann Taylor, 85, of Washington, died October 15, 2021, in Strabane Woods of Washington. She was born July 20, 1936, in Washington, the daughter of Harold and Lena Wurtzer Johnson. Shirley graduated from Trinity High School and worked as a bookkeeper for her family business, Maaco Autobody, and did house cleaning. But the job she loved was being an Aide with ARC Group Home. She had such a big heart and was such a patient and giving person. She loved her grandchildren, playing bingo, tending her flower garden, reading, and going to the casino. Shirley attended Liberty Methodist Church. She was the wife of Jack E. Taylor, who died on June 8, 2008; and the mother of, Curt (Joyce) Taylor, of Washington, Tim (Jan) Taylor, of West Mifflin, Jeff Taylor, of Washington, Cindy (Perry) Jamison, of Washington, and Brent (Vicky) Taylor, of Cheat Lake, WV; and grandmother to, Nathan Kerr, Nicole (Joe) Arroyo, Michelle (Matt) Skirble; and great-grandmother to, Faith Arroyo and Bentley Skirble. Preceding Shirley in death was her brothers, Sam and Clyde “Punk” Johnson, and sisters, Margaret Ptaszek and Hazel Crawford. A special thank you to the Strabane Woods staff for their love and care over the past 11 years, as well as OSPTA Hospice for their excellent care of Shirley. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, October 19, 2021, from 11 am until 1 pm, the time of service in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Reverend Sue Petritis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Benevolent Fund at Strabane Woods, 319 Wellness Way, Washington, PA 15301, or OSPTA Hospice, 4325 SR 51 N. Belle Vernon, PA 15012 Private Inurnment will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
