Shirley Joann Sobansky

Shirley JoAnn Sobanksy, 87, of Washington, died on March 2, 2022, in McMurray Hills Manor. She was born on November 5, 1934, in Washington, a daughter of the late James and Margaret Gwilliam Jenkins. A graduate of Washington High School, Shirley was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mrs. Sobansky worked for fifteen years as the switchboard operator for Bell Telephone. She enjoyed playing bingo, going shopping, watching QVC television, and trips to Atlantic City and Amish country. Shirley adored her little dog Paris, and what she loved most was spending time with her friends and family. On August 5, 1955, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shirley married the love of her life, Francis Sobansky, who died on November 17, 1991. Surviving are a son, Joe (Sherry) Sobansky, of Canonsburg; a daughter, Lynn Rush, of Eighty Four; three grandchildren, Shane Francis Sobansky, Skylar Lynn Sobansky, and Benjamin David Rush; and a very dear, close family friend, Lisa Carrier. Friends will be received on Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., the time of a Blessing and Committal Service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, with Father John Lynam as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gateway Hospice, 95 W. Beau St., Washington, PA 15301.
