Shirley Lyle Sanders, 71, of Washington, died Saturday, April 22, 2023, in Washington Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 6, 1952, in Washington, the daughter of Jane Six and the late K. Dale Lyle. A graduate of McGuffey High School and Penn Commercial for Business Administration. Shirley had worked as a clerical secretary for Fairhill Manor Christian Church for 5 years. She was a member of Trinity Bible Fellowship in Washington. Shirley loved singing and playing the piano. She and Mike regularly sang in the church choir and enjoyed many years of singing at local festivals and churches. She enjoyed reading and writing short stories. Most of all, she loved and adored her grandchildren and spending time with them. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first great-grandchild, Wyatt James Phillips, due in May 2023. On September 1, 1972, Shirley married Michael Dennis Sanders, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Melody Ann (Shawn) Phillips, Jonathan Michael (Tricia) Sanders, and Angela Joy (Ryan) Sprowls; sisters, Phyllis (Bob) Adkins, and Nancy (Alex) Moore; grandchildren, Nathan (Brittany), Jacob, Aaron and Jordan Phillips, Karoline (Joey Fritsch) and Lucas Sanders, David and Caleb Voytek, and Rylie Sprowls; sister-in-law, Nancy Ann Lyle, and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Lyle. Family and friends will be received Monday, April 24, 2023, 2-4 pm and 5-7 pm, in Trinity Bible Fellowship, 1350 Park Avenue, Washington, PA 15301. The place of service Tuesday, April 25th at 10 am with Pastor Michael Roach officiating.
