Shirley Ann Dinch

Shirley Ann Dinch, 72, of Claysville, lost her four-month battle with cancer, on Friday, November 17, 2017, in the Washington Hospital. She was born on July 17, 1945, in Springfield, Illinois, to the late Harry and Ola May Hendricks Grubb. Shirley was a 1963 graduate of Suitland High School, in Suitland, MD, where she resided for most of her life. Mrs. Dinch retired, after twenty-five years of service, from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington DC, where she worked as a telecommunications specialist.  She also worked as a cafeteria sub, in the McGuffey School District for sixteen years. A member, and past president of the Claysville Mother’s Club, Shirley was also a member of the Red Hat Divas, the Claysville American Legion Post #639 Auxiliary, and a guest member of the Claysville Community Association. On June 24, 1982, she married Harry E. Dinch, in Alexandria, VA. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Harry Burton (Fiorella) Dinch, of Woodbridge, VA, and Jimmy Edward (Vicki) Dinch, of Bowie, MD; a stepdaughter, Dawn Bowen, of Martinez, GA; a sister, Betty Dempsey, of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Deceased is her stepdaughter, Monica “Nicki” Russell, of Natoma, KS. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, and friend to all, and will truly be missed. Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, with Pastor Nelly Baker officiating. Burial will follow in West Alexander Cemetery.
