Shirley Ruth Allen

Shirley Ruth Allen, 88, of Taylorstown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023, in the Donnell House surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 10, 1935, Shirley was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend. She was known for her love for baking, watching hummingbirds while sitting on the porch, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Taylorstown Presbyterian Church and Claysville Legion Post 639 Women’s Auxiliary. Shirley was born in Washington, Pennsylvania to LeRoy and Anne Ashmore and grew up in Taylorstown, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Claysville High School class of 1953. On January 23, 1972, she married Cecil Sherman Allen, who passed away in 2012. Together they built a life full of love and shared memories. Shirley is survived by a daughter, two sons, and stepson, Debby (Dale) Radosevich, of Wheeling, WV, James B. (Crystal) Culbertson, of Jacksonville, FL, David L. Culbertson, of Claysville, PA, Eric (Lisa) Allen, of Washington; eight grandchildren, Jeff, Lisa, Matt, Elizabeth, Victoria, Taylar, Heather and Eric; seven great grandchildren, Camryn, Brooke, Henry, Evelyn, William, Cyrus, Anastasia; and one great-great grandchild, Saylor, who will continue to honor her memory. Deceased is a sister, Mary Anne Devenney. A memorial service will be held at the Taylorstown Presbyterian Church, 31 Main St., Taylorstown, at 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 17, 2023, with Clayton LaPosta officiating. A bereavement dinner will be immediately after where family can come together to celebrate Shirley's life and share their memories.
