Scott E. Riggans

Scott E. Riggans, 62, of Washington, died Thursday, January 9, 2020, in UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born March 13, 1957, in Washington Hospital, a son of the late Edward L. Riggans, Sr., and Rosemarie C. Shaner Riggans. Mr. Riggans was a 1975 graduate of Washington High School and served in the Air Force from 1976 to 1982. He worked at Boron in Meadowlands, Ammo, Petroclean, Donita Machine Shop, and Pennsylvania Transformer. Mr. Riggans loved his dog, Trixie, and enjoyed watching wrestling, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and Family Feud.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Washington. On May 25, 1991, he married Patricia M. “Patty” Patterson, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Dianne “Dena” Riggans of DeLand, Florida and Pearl “P.J.” Parsons of Florida; a stepson, Robert (Melissa) Byrne of Marianna; four grandchildren, Heavenly Star Cochran of Albany, Georgia, Brianna M. Cochran of Florida, Mariah N. Cochran of Florida, and Chloe V. Byrne of Marianna; two sisters, Ethel (Michael Fisher) Colbert of Washington, Debra S. (Dennis) Colbert of Washington; two brothers, Edward L. Riggans, Jr., of Arizona and Richard J. Riggans of Washington; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and his caregiver Erma Bowser. Deceased is a grandson, Robert Patrick Byrne. Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 14th, from 3 to 6 p.m., the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Rev. Fred McCloskey officiating.  Military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton 175.  Inurnment in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be held at a later date.
