Sandra K. “Sandy” Reed Cunningham, 75, of Amity, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 22, 2025, surrounded by family from a brief illness. She was born December 15, 1949, a daughter of the late Robert E. Reed and Dorothy L. Ross, formerly of Canonsburg. Sandy was a 1967 graduate of Canon McMillan High School. Soon after high school, she met the love of her life, the late Joseph R. Cunningham Sr. After a short courtship they were married on April 26, 1968, and had two children. Joseph R. Cunningham Sr. preceded her in death in 2004. She worked as a prep cook at Maggie’s Pub in Washington for a wonderful boss and friend, Peggy Berry. Sandy was known for her cookies and pies for all events, weddings and holidays. Sandy’s favorite past times were traveling and going on cruises. She loved spending time watching her grandchildren and sitting on the deck feeding the birds and deer in her front yard. She leaves behind her two dogs, Leila and Lily, who were the light in her life. For 18 years, Sandy lived with her fiancé and life companion, Larry L. Rush, who preceded her in death in 2024. Surviving are a daughter, Michelle (Larry) Putman of Tennessee; a son, Joseph (Kristina) Cunningham of Amity; four beloved grandchildren, Kayla (Cody) Cunningham, Hunter (Shannon) Stollar, Jessica (Logan) Cunningham and Julia (Dylan) Cunningham; a brother, William (Miriam) Reed of Florida; a brother-in-law, Dennis (Betty) Cunningham of Amity; a sister-in-law, Cathy (Steve) Cunningham of Washington; and five nieces and five nephews. The family of Sandy would like to express sincere thanks to Gateway Hospice for the compassionate care. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2025, in Lone Pine Cemetery, 582 Lone Pine Road, Washington. Everyone attending the service is asked to please meet at 10:15 a.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, to proceed to the cemetery.
