Ruth C. "Ruthie" Dern

Ruth C. “Ruthie” Dern, 82, of Washington, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, in Transitions Healthcare, Washington. She was born January 20, 1942, a daughter of the late Irving Glenn Reed Sr. and Bernice Y. Reed. Ruthie loved knitting, word search and coloring. She was a very outgoing person. On July 27, 1994, she married Albert L. “Blackie” Dern, who passed away April 28, 2012. She leaves behind her very close friend and caregiver, who was like family to her, Robin L. (Charles A.) Barr; Robin’s children, who Ruthie was like a grandmother to, Mallery Wright, John E. “JJ” Wright Jr. and Brooke A. Wright; her close friends, Gwen Gongaware and Cynthia Engle; 18 grandchildren; and her stepchildren, Christopher, Stuart, Dale, Karen and Sharon. Arrangements are private and entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., Washington.
