Russell A. Miller

August 11, 1936 — October 31, 2019

Russell A. Miller, 83, of Eighty-Four, went home to be with his Lord, on Thursday, October 31, 2019, in the Washington Hospital. He was born on August 11, 1936, in Nottingham Township, PA, a son of the late Russell J., and Hazel Ann Wessel Miller. Russell attended a one-room schoolhouse, named Bryant School, on Little Mingo Road, for seven years, and attended the old Monongahela High School, before leaving to join the workforce, as so many did at that time. A dedicated, and hard worker, Mr. Miller drove a tractor trailer, and worked at Charlie Fawcett’s farm, Andy Morrison’s Gas Station, Laird Construction, Ashcraft Construction Company, and unloading box trucks for 84 Lumber, Ryan Homes.  He was the Nottingham Township supervisor for four years, and was an equipment operator for PennDOT for 21 years, before retiring in 1998. Mr. Miller was a veteran of the United States Army, 28th Infantry, having been stationed in Colorado and Germany. Russell enjoyed working in the garage, and mowing the yard, but what he loved the most, was taking long rides with his wife, Glenda, and spending time with his family. A deeply spiritual man, he loved Jesus, and was ready to “go home.” On June 8, 1962, he married Glenda Grace Lusk, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Mark R. (Bonnie) Miller, of Muskogee, OK; a daughter, Debra A. (Michael) Jacobs, of Seaside, CA; a brother, Harry Miller, of Eighty-Four, PA; two sisters, Martha (Frank) McCubbins, of South Charleston, OH, and Linda Machanick, of Monongahela; eleven grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Deceased are five sisters, Doris Cunningham, Bertha Boyd, Thelma Burnsworth, Mary Burkle, and Ruth Ann Williams. Friends will be received on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, from 4 until 8 p.m., in the William g. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, November 7, 2019, with Rev. Bill Lusk officiating. Burial will follow in Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church Cemetery, in Eighty-Four. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, 600 Waterfront Dr #210, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
