Rose Marie Whitco

June 23, 1944 — May 21, 2022

Rose Marie Strogish Whitco, 78, of Moncks Corner, formerly of Washington, PA, a retired circulation office manager for the Washington Observer-Reporter, died Saturday afternoon in her residence. Mrs. Whitco was born January 23, 1944, in Muse, PA, a daughter of Charles Strogish and Anastasia Capp Strogish. She was a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. Upon moving to South Carolina in the early 90’s, she and her family loved to travel, especially to the beach or camping. She also enjoyed flower gardening when she wasn’t fighting the bugs, and feeding the hummingbirds. Mrs. Whitco liked to play older slot machines when she could, but only if it had a pull handle! She really enjoyed listening to music and dancing and loved decorating and celebrating for the holidays, especially Christmas. In 1989, at age 45 she entered into the Mrs. Pennsylvania pageant and placed 13th, was selected as best female dancer of her senior class, and loved being a majorette at Canon-McMillan High School. She also dearly loved her dog Jizmo. Mrs. Whitco was preceded in death by four brothers, Nick, John, Billy, and Mike Strogish; and four sisters, Mary Panchura, Martha Sekura, Nancy Wasnik, and Ann McDonogh. Surviving are her husband, Michael; two daughters, Pam Whitco, of Moncks Corner, and Michelle Whitco (Natalie), of Lake Worth, FL; a grandson, Michael Stone, of Washington, PA; and three sisters, Irene Andree (Don), of Lancaster, SC, Helen Churilla (Lenny), of Ravenna, OH, and Kassie Eisenbarth, of Pittsburgh, PA; and many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a warm thank you to Agape Hospice for the care they provided. Friends and family are invited to a Panahida on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., with visitation from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where a Parastas service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2022, with Father Joseph Raptosh officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
