Romaine Denise Booher

Romaine Denise Booher, 75 of Cecil, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 8th, 2023, following a valiant battle with lung cancer. Born April 23rd, 1947, in El Paso TX, she was daughter of the late Richard C Ruecroft and Romaine (Mansfield) Veltre of Washington, PA. She graduated from Wash. High in 1965 and earned degrees from Pitt and Duquesne. Denise worked as Director of Religious Education for several parishes within the Catholic diocese of Pittsburgh including St Mary’s, Cecil; St Francis of Assisi, Finleyville; Good Samaritan, Ambridge; and Our Lady of Peace, Conway. She is survived by Ray, her husband of fifty years; sons David of Canonsburg, and Dustin (Lara) of Fairfax, VA. The joys of her life were her five beloved granddaughters: Ella, Samantha, Andrea, Emily, and Avery. She was an avid bibliophile, heavily involved in book discussion groups at Peters Township library, and was a fan of movies, musical theater, Dr. Who and other British television. Visitation will be held on Sunday March 12th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington PA 15301. Funeral mass will be held on Monday March 13th at 10am at St. Mary’s Church in Cecil followed by burial in Mt Prospect cemetery in Hickory, PA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her name to the Peters Township public library or a charity of your choice.
