Roger William Mankey, 76, of Washington, died Wednesday, December 4, 2019, in The Washington Hospital. He was born December 13, 1942, in Washington, a son of the late William Mankey and Louise Gaus Mankey. Mr. Mankey graduated from Trinity High School and from Robert Morris College with a degree in business. He worked as the transportation manager of Grace Bible Christian School. Mr. Mankey enjoyed camping and trips to Niagara Falls and the beach, especially Ocean City, Maryland. He loved his dog, Bella, who will miss him so much. A Vietnam veteran, Mr. Mankey served in the Air Force from March 16, 1964, until his honorable discharge as a sergeant on February 26, 1968. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. Mr. Mankey was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. On August 9, 1968, he married Shirley Gump, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Tammy Mankey of Washington, Kelly (Tony) Stimeling of Claysville, and Susan (Jim) DeMarco of Weirton, West Virginia; a brother, Jerry (Mary) Mankey of Amity; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Niles) Kennedy, Zachary and Brandon Stimeling, and Jimmy, Alexis, Dominic and Gianna DeMarco; and a great-grandchild, Harper Kennedy. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 13th, in Calvary Baptist Church, 1701 Ridgewood Drive, Washington, with Rev. Fred McCloskey officiating.
