Roger "Butch" Anderson

Roger D. “Butch” Anderson, 81, of Claysville, died Friday, July 5, 2024, in his home surrounded by family. He was born August 19, 1942, in Washington, a son of the late Mel Anderson and Gladys Pettit Anderson. Mr. Anderson retired from Suburban Coach Lines, where he had worked as a driver. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, and telling jokes. He also loved playing the lottery and never missed a day playing his lottery numbers. Mr. Anderson loved all the players he coached over the years in local youth baseball leagues. On June 22, 1962, he married Marlene Keener, who died May 26, 2011. Surviving are son, Melvin Anderson and Tammy Noble, whom Butch considered his daughter-in-law, of Claysville; a daughter, Pamela (Shawne) Cowdery of Florida; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins; and his companion, Sandy Knestric, whom he enjoyed spending time with. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Melony Anderson; son, Mike “Chicken Legs” Anderson; granddaughter, Jolene Anderson; and great-niece, Jamie Fuller. His five siblings are also deceased, making him the last of his immediate family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, July 12th, with Pastor Dan Lutz officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
