Robert Curtis Steede, 86, of Washington, passed from this earth on Sunday, June 24, 2018, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born August 18, 1931, in Mill Run, a son of the late Raymond Myron Steede and Dolly Mabel Rugg Steede. Mr. Steede attended Connellsville High School. He delivered newspapers, set up pins at the Connellsville Bowling Alley, worked at Anchor Hocking, Mayview Hospital, Valley Forge Hospital as a medic, Fort Pitt Bridge Works, Banberry, and Mulach Steel, from where he retired. During the Korean War, he served in the Army as a corporal, earning a Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Steede was a member of First Christian Church, Canonsburg. His favorite pastime was fishing and camping at the Yough Dam. A member of Anawanna Club, he also enjoyed feeding birds and deer. Most of all, he loved his family and wildlife. On May 27, 1952, he married Joan Miller, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, John (Janet) Steede, David (Anna) Steede and Barry (Janice) Steede; grandchildren, John, Joell, Matthew (Emily), Curtis, Barry Jr. (Elizabeth), Adeline, Mandoline (James), and Jessie Jo (Chris); great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Jo, Devlin, Collin, Sydney, Branson, Layne, Rosie, Bay, Blake, Sarah, Vance, Vanessa, Vivian, Kaylee and Skylar; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Patty Jones of Washington; son-in-law, John McDonald of Sycamore; and many cousins from the Rugg family. Deceased are a daughter, Cindy Jo McDonald Graham; grandchildren, Timothy and April Steede; great-granddaughter, Lily Steede; and a sister, Trella Mae Brennan. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 29th, with Rev. Janet Scott-Mace officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
