Robert Charles Paxton, Sr., 84, of Canonsburg, died on July 19, 2023, in Greenery Center for Rehab and Nursing, in Canonsburg. He was born on October 10, 1938, in Washington, a son of the late Orville C. and Marian Dayton Paxton. A 1956 graduate of Washington High School, he was a member of North Buffalo Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir. Robert was a veteran of the United States Army, having proudly served from October 25, 1956, until his honorable discharge, with the rank of Specialist 5, on October 23, 1959. Mr. Paxton worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for thirty-two years, and he also worked in the seafood department at Giant Eagle. Robert played in the Route 19 Senior Bowling Leagues on Mondays and Wednesdays, and was a member of Buffalo Grange. He had a beautiful voice, and loved to sing. Robert loved to tell stories, and often entertained people with funny tales from his time in the army. On June 1, 1959, he married the love of his life, Barbara Erdene Spragg, who died on December 23, 2013. Surviving are a daughter, Victoria Lynn (Allen) Paxton Bershok, of Canonsburg; three grandchildren, Arthur, Andrew and Brigid Bershok; as well as several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, Robert C. Paxton, Jr.; a brother, Kenneth Paxton; and a sister, Patricia Martin. Friends and family are welcome on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in North Buffalo Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
