Robert Elwood Haines

Robert “Bob” Elwood Haines, of Washington, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018, surrounded by family. He was born on August 5, 1939, a son of the late Willis Haines, and Ethel Crumrine-Haines, who instilled in him his Presbyterian faith. Bob was a 1957 graduate of Trinity High School.  Following high school, he served his country in the 630th Transportation Company of the United States Army Reserves. He was a longtime employee of AT&T in Pittsburgh, retiring after thirty-seven years. During his retirement, he enjoyed carving wooden items at the Wheeling Carving Club, listening to baseball games, watching his favorite television show, Jeopardy, and traveling during the Winter months, with his wife, Carolyn to visit friends on Anna Marie Island, Florida. Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-six years, Carolyn, four children, Chris (Lisa) Haines, Shawn (Ranae) Haines, Lisa (Craig) Morella, and Alicia (Anthony) Ricketts; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Sarah, Austin, Chelsea, Christopher, Haley, Fallon, and Evan; one great granddaughter, Leilani; two sisters, Carmen Chadwick, and Nancy Haines; and many nieces and nephews. Bob had two siblings, Stewart and Gaylord Haines, and a nephew, David Dotts, who have passed on from this world. For those wishing to pay their respects, viewing will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018,  at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Eric Toohey officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. Family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
