Robert E. Finch, 90, of Washington, passed away on November 27, 2022, at the Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born December 31, 1931, in Nineveh. He was the son of the late James and Maude (Rutan) Finch. Robert attended Waynesburg High School and joined the Navy in 1951. Seaman First Class Finch served during the Korean War in the United States Navy, in what is known today as the Navy Seals. He served on the USS Horace A. Bass. He was an accomplished bricklayer from 1956 until the time of his retirement. Robert was a member of the Masons for nearly 60 years. He was a member of the Beaver Hunting Club and was a Trustee of his Church. He enjoyed playing dartball. He played baseball in his youth/adulthood and was an avid Steeler fan holding season tickets for many years. On August 23, 1956, Robert married Thelma Jane McCullough, who passed away on May 12, 2018. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his brothers Floyd, Raymond, Wayne, Arthur, and Richard Finch and sisters Lula Anderson and Mildred Mae Sloneker. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the William G. Neal Funeral Home, Ltd. 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 PM by the Sunset Lodge. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on December 8, 2022, at 11 AM with Reverend Donna Christopher. Interment to follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Military honors will be accorded by the Navy and American Legion Post 175. Donations may be made to the Laboratory Presbyterian Church, 33 Manse Street, Washington PA 15370 or to a charity of one's choice.
