Robert Iams Edgar, 92, of Washington, died on Sunday, June 10, 2018, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care. He was born on April 26, 1926, in Washington, a son of the late Herman and Sarah Iams Edgar. Mr. Edgar was a graduate of Washington High School. He was Vice President and General Manager of Piatt Machine, where he worked for thirty-three years until his retirement. Mr. Edgar was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from February 19, 1945, until his honorable discharge as a Corporal on December 12, 1946. For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Army Occupation Medal (Japan) and the World War II Victory Ribbon. Robert was a member of the Sportsman’s Club in Arden, the Washington Elks Club, the Washington Country Club, and was a board member of the Washington County Blind Association. He loved woodworking, and was known for his skills with his hands. He could make or do anything. On June 28, 1962, he married Ruth L. Plymire, who died on April 17, 2001. Surviving are a son, David R. Edgar, of Columbus, OH; a sister, Carol Ann Myers, of Jupiter, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a sister, Kathleen Haviland Bracken. Friends will be received on Friday, June 15, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Home, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where additional visitation will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m., the time of services, with Pastor Rob Berk officiating.
