Robert John Bentz, Sr., 91, died peacefully on March 26, 2022, in the Donnell House, following a brief illness. He was born on June 4, 1930, in Snowden, PA, a son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Manko Bentz. Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. A lifelong farmer, Bob enjoyed farming, and riding his John Deere tractors. Mr. Bentz was a Ford Mustang enthusiast, who enjoyed collecting and restoring classic Mustangs with his son, and watching NASCAR Racing. Bob remained sharp as a tack, and enjoyed reading the newspaper, and discussing all the current events in detail. What gave Bob the greatest joy was being surrounded by his beloved family. He never missed a chance to invite them for gatherings in his home, for holidays and summer picnics. Although he was a very old-school, and hard working man, there was never any doubt about his love for his family. His wife, Betty Lou Gusic Bentz died on October 26, 2008. Surviving are a son, Robert J. (Candice) Bentz, Jr., of Prosperity; a stepdaughter, Debbie Gusic, of Claysville; a sister, Lois Gazvoda, of Canonsburg; six grandchildren, Bobby (Kayla) Bentz, Chase Bentz, Josh (Ashleigh) Deyell, Cody (Ashley) Deyell, Janeen Pastva, and Danyelle Melthratte; eight great grandchildren, Lilah, Maizie, Nash, Charlee, Quinn, Julia, Sydney, and Olivia; as well as many nieces and nephews. Deceased are a stepdaughter, Sheila K. Miller; a brother, Al Bentz; and four sisters, Martha Kanish, Agnes Randolph, Margie Zalaznik, and Betty Mirisciotta. Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where a service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Donnell House, 10 Leet St., Washington, PA 15301.
