Robert D. “Bob” “Barney” Barnhart, 89, of Washington, died Monday, June 10, 2024, in Washington Hospital. He was born February 23, 1935, in Crabapple, near Windridge, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Woodrow and Dorothy Hewitt Barnhart. Bob went to Richhill High School. He served in the Army and was stationed in Hawaii when it became a state. He retired from Robinson Pipe Cleaning Co. and was a security guard at Meadows Racetrack. Bob enjoyed genealogy, photography, flower gardening and painting. He was an avid Steelers fan and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. On December 13, 1963, he married Sharon Elliott of Elm Grove, who is deceased. Surviving are a son, Robert D. (Janet) Barnhart Jr. of West Alexandria, Ohio; a daughter, Mindy L. (Michael) Allen of West Alexander, Pennsylvania; five grandkids, Matthew, Chad (Tori), Dylan (Alisha), Brady (Kaley), and Stephanie (Cole); nine great-grandchildren, Hope, Connor, Bentlee, Camille, Braelynn, Chloe, Briley, Camryn and Kingston; a good friend, Patty; his dog, Bree; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are three brothers, William, Jack and Ray, and a grandchild, Tori. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11 a.m., in Bethel Presbyterian Church, 3905 Park Avenue, Prosperity, PA 15329, with Pastor Eric Toohey officiating. A luncheon in the church social hall will follow the service. Burial in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church.
