Richard L. “Turtle” Sturgill, 64, of Washington, died August 18, 2021, in his home. He was born February 14, 1957, in Washington, a son of May G. Smith Brock of Washington. Prior to working in Coraopolis at Diversified Overseas Marketing, Mr. Sturgill worked on docks in Louisiana. He enjoyed motorcycles, building bikes, and spending time with family and his grandchildren. Mr. Sturgill collected knives and Native American items. He loved animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed taking care of horses. He rescued his pit bull, Diamond, and his two cats. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a daughter, Amanda L. Ingram (Clinton Rush) of Washington; two grandchildren, Damien Rush and McKenna Rush; an aunt, Mary Lou Whickey of Washington; and cousins, Joseph Miller, Kenneth Miller and Sally Ann Whickey. Deceased are a brother, Glenn L. Smith; Forest Pridemore, who raised him; and his dog Jada. A Celebration of Life will be held, Friday, September 17, 2021, 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post #175, 168 Park Avenue, Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
