Richard S. Mersky

Richard S. Mersky, of Claysville, passed away on June 12, 2023, at his home. A son of William and Kathryn Antol Mersky, he was born on August 4, 1936, in Meadowlands, PA. On June 28, 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Manon Mersky, who survives. They would have been married 65 years on that date. He attended Trinity High School. Rich was one of the first employees of Washington Penn Plastics, where he became the plant manager. After 32 years, he retired to his farm where he raised cattle. When he was young, he loved rebuilding motors and souping up cars. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and fishing. He was happiest riding his tractor, whether baling hay or going for a ride in the woods. Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Glenn P. Mersky and wife Denise, of Collegeville, PA, Richard B. Mersky of Claysville, and Patricia L. Mersky, of Claysville, PA; eight grandchildren, Jordan G. Mersky, Chelsea Koryak, Christopher Koryak, Andrew Koryak, Kailee Koryak, Glenn L. Mersky, Leland Mersky, and Richard C. Mersky; a great granddaughter, Lacey Mersky; his brother, Steve Mersky and wife Virginia, and his niece, Margie Mersky; and several other nieces and nephews. Also remaining behind is his dog, Beau, his constant companion, and swing buddy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bill, and his sister, Marion Mersky Cuccaro. The family wants to thank Amedisys Hospice. Particularly nurse Bridget Ringer, and nurse’s aide, Samantha Rockwell, for all their help and care. At the request of the deceased, all services were private. There will be a memorial service for friends and family on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 1pm, at Taylorstown Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. .
