Richard Lee Menkel, 62, of Washington, died suddenly on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in Washington Hospital. He was born June 8, 1961 in Fort Knox, Tenn to Richard Smith Jr. and the late Arlene Chapman-Menkel. Rich graduated Washington High School and earned his Master’s Degree at Robert Morris University. He was employed by Washington Hospital for 45 years as a storeroom clerk. Rich loved to fish, woodworking, and spend time with his family and grandchildren. He also loved going Steelhead fishing at Lake Erie and spending Opening Day at Canonsburg Lake with his best friend, Tom. Surviving, in addition to his father, are his wife, Lisa Menkel, who he married on November 4, 2015; children, Rebecca Menkel, Rick Menkel, Robert Menkel (Cindy), Michael Franklin, Scott Barber (Emily), and Danielle Barber; siblings, Linda Price (Marco), Tomisa Bates, and Laura Holden; nephew, Jaxson Rushing; and grandchildren, Quinn Krause, Parker Krause, Annaleigh Barber, Oliver Barber, and Phoebe McManus. Visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. A graveside service will follow at Chartiers Cemetery in Carnegie. Family and friends are welcome to attend a luncheon at Friendship Community Church, Washington.
