Richard J. Douglas Devoted family man Richard J. Douglas, 78, of Houston, PA, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, February 15, 2018, in the Donnell House, with his loving wife, Michele by his side. He was born on October 30, 1939, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Richard “Dick” and Jennie A. Servant Douglas. Richard was a 1957 graduate of Chartiers High School, and graduated from Long Beach Community College, with an Associate’s Degree in engineering. He retired from AT&T in 1999, after nearly forty years of service. Mr. Douglas enlisted in the Navy, where he served aboard the USS Enterprise. He often spoke of how his time in the service allowed him to see the world. A selfless man, Richard’s whole life was about his love for his family. His greatest joy was being a husband to his wife Michele, a father to his two daughters, and doting Pap. He was especially proud of his grandson, Liam, whom he adored. Richard enjoyed his morning coffee, while doing the daily crossword with his wife. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golf and handball. On April 18, 1974, he married Michele M. Popovich Douglas, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara M. (John D. Morrocco, III) Douglas, of Cecil, and Linda M. “Lin” Douglas Webb, of Houston; and his grandson, Liam Douglas Webb, of Houston. He also leaves behind his two dogs, Chica and Dash. Deceased are a brother, David Douglas, and a sister, Mary Ann Yost. Friends will be received on Monday, February 19, 2018, from 4 to 6 p.m., the time of service, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Private inurnment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
