Rebecca J. LaPosta, 88, of Washington, died Thursday, May 31, 2018, in Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington. She was born June 25, 1929, in Claysville, a daughter of Robert I. and Ione M. Hitchcock Hunter. Mrs. LaPosta attended Hickory High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church, Washington. Always strong in her faith in God, she lived her life following Christ’s teachings. She was a selfless person who was passionate about serving anyone and everyone she met. Mrs. LaPosta enjoyed crocheting. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their sporting events. In her earlier years, she loved to travel to her home in the mountains near Tionesta and spend time there with her grandchildren. On March 17, 1948, she married Ernest LaPosta, who died October 17, 2009. Surviving are two sons, E. Wayne (Janet) LaPosta of Washington and Clayton L. LaPosta (Chris Hammond) of Fort Myers, Florida; five grandchildren, Angela Marie LaPosta (Mike Lyon), Andree Rebecca “Becky” LaPosta (Zach Hildebrand), Kelly (John) Wilson, Jamie L. (Lance) Knox, and Clayton L. (Leslie) LaPosta, II; five great grandchildren, Aidan and Dylan Knox, Jacob Neal, August Ernesto and Dominic Isaiah Hildebrand; and several nieces and nephews. The last of her immediate family, deceased are her siblings, Samuel J. Hunter, Sandra Carroll, Robert J. Hunter and Annabelle Amos. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 4th, with Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Colliers, West Virginia.
