Raymond L. Ruschel

Raymond L. Ruschel, 78, of Washington, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, in Transitions Healthcare, Washington. He was born March 6, 1946, in Washington, a son of the late Raymond Ruschel and Nancy Brownlee Ruschel. Raymond was a graduate of Trinity High School. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1988 as a Master-At-Arms. He proudly served as a Hospital Corpsman during the Vietnam War. During his service, he visited 28 countries. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Forces Medal, Expert Pistol Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Sea Service Deployment Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Raymond was a member of Covenant Life Fellowship in Washington and attended Washington PCA. He loved hunting and collecting guns. On May 15, 2008, he married Marjorie Briant Ruschel, who survives. Also surviving are twin children, Tanya Rae Silcott of Florida and Shawn Ruschel of Florida; a son, Raymond W.D. Ruschel of North Dakota; a daughter, Jennifer Jason) Davis of Virginia; a son, Travis Ruschel of Jefferson; a step son, Jordan (Amelia) King of Ambridge; a step daughter, Monica (Bradley) Poland of Washington; grandchildren Nicholas Silcott of Canonsburg, Justin Silcott of Canonsburg, Conner (Jessica )Ruschel of Michigan, Chloe (Tyler) Fults of Michigan, Patrick Paris of North Carolina, Jessica (Daniel) Rutherford of Virginia, Raymond Fernando of Virginia, Eain Ruschel of Washington, Tabitha Ruschel of Washington, Luke Poland of Washington, Leia Poland of Washington, twins Evan and Kenzie Poland of Washington and Winston King of Ambridge; and great-grandchildren David Oliver of Virginia and Rose and Violet of Washington. Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., Washington, 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2025, in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Everyone attending the service is asked to please meet at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. to proceed to the cemetery.
