Ray V. Thomas, 76, of Washington, died Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in The Washington Hospital. He was born September 3, 1948, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Frank and Isa Meeks Thomas. Known as “RT” to his friends and family, he was a very focused and successful businessman, owning and operating his own excavation company for 50 years. Mr. Thomas was a member of VFW, Taylorstown American Legion, the Moose Club, and the Elks. RT loved his Harley motorcycle and especially loved spending time with friends and family. Surviving are his wife, Patricia, whom he married August 29, 1975; a son, David (Vicki) Thomas; a daughter, Brenda Vebelun; one sister, Patty Thomas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Thomas is pre-deceased by his parents and 11 siblings. A service will be held in the chapel of Washington Cemetery on Tuesday, October 1st at 1:45 p.m. Those attending the chapel service are asked to meet at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, between 1 and 1:15pm for a procession to the cemetery at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an animal-related charity.
