Ray Gilbert Noble, Sr., 87, of Washington, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in his home. He was born July 13, 1929, in Eighty Four, a son of the late Boyd and Ethel Huff Noble. Mr. Noble worked for 36 years for Jessop Steel, retiring in 1991 as a ladleman on the hot side. He also hauled scrap for many years, and became known as the “Junk Man.” Mr. Noble was a member of the Jessop Club and loved trapping, fishing, hunting, turtle hunting, and spending time with his family and grandkids. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard from August 4, 1947, until April 5, 1949, and the Naval Reserves from June 14, 1949, until March 13, 1954. On November 8, 1949, he married Virginia M. Roupe, who died September 3, 2008. Surviving are a son, Ray G. (Rosemarie) Noble, Jr., of Washington; two daughters, Ethel Joan (the late Eddie) Roberts and Sally L. (Norman) Noble-Forgues, both of Washington; a son-in-law, Wesley Williams, Sr., of Washington; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a daughter, Genevieve M. Noble Williams; a grandchild, Jamie Fuller; two brothers, Boyd and Robert Noble; and a sister, Norie Newman. Friends will be received on Friday from 4 till 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 17th. Burial will follow in North Buffalo Cemetery.
