Ray Allan Montgomery, 86, of Washington, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington. He was born August 15, 1938, in West Bethlehem Township, a son of the late Ray Earl Montgomery and Elizabeth Ernest Montgomery. Ray was a 1956 graduate of Trinity High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958 and was stationed in Japan. Ray was employed as an electrical foreman for Molly Corp, from where he retired after 35 years. He was a member of North Ten Mile Baptist Church in Amity. Ray was past president and director of the National Pike Steam Gas and Horse Association and was a member since the early 1980s. He enjoyed building and repairing antique tractors. Surviving are his loving wife, Mary “Rennie” W. Frederick; four sons, Douglas S. (Lisa Phelps) Montgomery of New Hampshire, Gregory S. (Lori Butler, and her son Randy Williams Jr.) Montgomery of Harrisburg, and Russell W. Palm and Christopher T. Palm, both of Washington; two grandchildren, Ashley M. Palm of Aurora, Indiana, and Brittany M. Palm of Washington; a brother, Gerald E. (the late Carol) Montgomery; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, Mark Montgomery, and a brother, Arthur Montgomery. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2024, and 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Monday, October 21, 2024, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Wesley Kavanagh officiating. Interment will be held in Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Pike Steam Gas and Horse Association, 222 Spring Road, Brownsville, PA 15417, North Ten Mile Baptist Church, 322 Ridge Church Road, Amity, PA 15311, and/or a charity of one’s choice.
