Ralph Edward "Ed" Harris, 86, of Washington, died December 28, 2023, in Transitions Health Care, Washington. He was born November 4, 1937, in Washington, the son of the late Ralph Vernard and Mildred Ellen Wiecheck Harris. A graduate of Washington High School, Ed worked for Jessop Steel for many years. He was Catholic by faith and a member of the American Legion, Post 175. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, metal detecting, and attending antique engine shows. He loved being outdoors, especially at his cabin, “Mox-Nix,” with his brothers Rip and Rock. He also enjoyed woodcarving and made walking sticks for family and friends. On March 3, 1962, Ed married Janice Marie Bombara, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Joseph Harris (Brenda), Edward Harris (Iris), Lisa Harris, and William Harris; a brother, Ronald “Rock” Harris (Barbara); grandchildren, Nicholas (Ashley), Joshua, Brittany, and Zachary; and many nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by a brother, Norman “Rip” Harris (Bonnie). The family would like to thank the staff of Transitions Health Care for the wonderful care provided for Ed. Family and friends will be received Thursday, January 11, 2024, 2-4pm and 6-8pm, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, where a Blessing Service will be held at 9 am, on Friday, January 12th. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with military honors accorded by the American Legion, Post 175, and the US Army.
