Ralph E. Armstrong, Jr., 70, of Washington, died peacefully, on July 9, 2023, at his home. He was born on January 17, 1953, in Washington, PA, a son of the late Ralph E. Armstrong, Sr. and Mary Leasure Armstrong. A graduate of Washington High School, Ralph went on to earn both a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, and Master’s Degree in computer science from California University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Armstrong retired from Washington Steel/Allegheny Ludlum, where he had worked as a coil storage clerk and an A&P Line Coordinator. He served as president of his union, offering assistance to many workers. Ralph loved music, and his favorite band was the Beatles. The greatest joy of his life was his grandchildren. He absolutely adored them and proudly answered to the name of Pap Pap Red Hat. Ralph spent every moment possible with them, and especially enjoyed their sports and activities. Surviving are a daughter, Carly (Geoffrey) Wise; two sisters, Cindi (Tom) Smock and Janet (David) Gullborg; his beloved granddaughters, Chloe and Camille; former spouse, Carla Armstrong; a nephew, Andrew (Alyssa) Kohlmyer; and a niece, Sybil (Jason Tkach) McCue. Deceased is a son, Ryan Early Armstrong, who passed in infancy. Friends and family are welcome on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 3 to 6 p.m., the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. A private burial in Venice Cemetery will occur at a later date.
