Phyllis Jean Crothers, 87, of Washington, died Thursday, June 14, 2018, in the Washington Hospital. She was born July 14, 1930, in Washington, a daughter of the late William and Stella McPherson Horner. A graduate of Washington High School, Mrs. Crothers was the owner of Reed & Cameron Hardware for 10 years. She was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Crothers enjoyed playing bingo and cards and watching game shows on television. She volunteered at North Franklin Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years and was a member of Washington Senior Citizens Center. On June 16, 1957, she married Harry Crothers, who died December 1, 2010. Surviving are a son, Kevin (Pam) Crothers of Washington; a daughter, Brenda (Robert) Caldwell of Washington; four grandchildren, Gregory Caldwell, Avril Caldwell, Kaitlyn Miller and Kristen Lucas; and two great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Jace Miller. Deceased is a granddaughter, Megan Caldwell. Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 19th, with Rev. Jason R. Hefner and Linda Webster officiating.
