Peggy Joan Armstrong, 80, of Reedsville, West Virginia, formerly of Washington, died December 8, 2021. She was born January 1, 1941, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of the late Marshall and Margaret Beckner. Mrs. Armstrong was a 1958 graduate of Trinity High School. On August 1, 1958, she married Delbert “Wayne” Armstrong, who died April 9, 2010. Surviving are two daughters, Diana Armstrong Prowitt (Jeffrey) of Washington and Pamela Armstrong Feathers (Robert) of Reedsville, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Colin Matthew Prowitt, Dylan Joseph Prowitt, Aidan James Prowitt, Jacob Bryant DeVall, and JoLynn Dawn Feathers; a great-granddaughter, Lily Sue Prowitt; two sisters, Nancy Fountain and Regina Bonus; a brother, William “Bill” Beckner; a very dear niece, Donna Comfort (Donnie); and many more nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends who loved her. She leaves behind her pet and companion of 13 years, Sydney. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Armstrong; son, Tracy Bryant Armstrong, who died at birth; a brother, Kenneth Hamilton; and a beloved niece, Patricia “Patty” Armstrong Henley. Peggy worked at The Washington Hospital for 35 years. Hired as a unit secretary, she also served as president of the workers union for several years. Peggy’s excellence in her career earned her the management position of the hospital’s education assistant before retiring in 2006. After retirement, Peggy devoted her life as caretaker to Wayne, her loving husband of 52 years. Mrs. Armstrong was a long-time active member of Fourth Presbyterian Church in Washington, where she served as an elder and member of the session and worked as church secretary. She enjoyed gardening in her yard and spending time with her family and friends, but first and foremost, she devoted her life to serving God. Those that knew Peggy well were blessed to have known such a kind and caring person. Peggy couldn’t resist any opportunity to help someone in need, even if it just meant a cup of coffee and conversation. She was someone you could trust and confide in with confidence. She would offer wise advice when asked or sit with a listening er if that’s all you needed. Peggy has touched the lives of many. She will be dearly missed. Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 14th. Burial will follow in Emmanuel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
