Norman Paul McDonough Sr., 85, of Washington, died Thursday, July 11, 2019, in the Greenery Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, in Canonsburg. He was born on October 28, 1933, in Washington, a son of the late Gola “Earl” McDonough and Rose Mitchell McDonough. A graduate of Washington High School, he was a member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church. A veteran of the United States Army, Norman served from March 8, 1956, until his honorable discharge as a Private First Class, on December 18, 1957. For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. McDonough worked as a truck driver for General Cryogenics, retiring after 15 years. Norman loved spending time with family and grandchildren, and his dog, Muffin. On June 16, 1960, he married Mary Louise Chivers, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Norman P. McDonough, Jr., of Washington and Kirk (Debra) McDonough, of North Strabane; a sister, Sandra Elliott, of Los Angeles, CA; and two grandchildren, Gannon and Gage McDonough. Deceased are a sister, Dorothy Karluk, and a brother, Donald McDonough. Friends will be received Monday, July 15, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Gena Sheller officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
