Nora Mae Levers, 83, of Washington, passed away quietly at home, on January 2, 2019, after a brief illness. She was born October 28, 1935, in McClellandtown, a daughter of the late Wilbur and Ruth Frost Townsend. She married Austin E. Levers, who is deceased. They made their home in Washington. Mrs. Levers worked various jobs and raised four sons: Bruce, Douglas, the late Randy, and Mark Levers. She retired in 1981to raise her eldest grandchild. Surviving, in addition to three sons, are four grandchildren, Crystal Bartko, Travis Levers, Tyler Levers and Randi Levers; one great-grandchild, Riley Levers; five siblings, Charmaine Viola, Ron Townsend, Sr., Timothy Townsend, Wilbur (Marlene) Townsend and Deborah Gaggiani; and her good friends, who affectionately called her “Mammy,” Debbie Barr, Marcia Ellis and Dora Black. Deceased, in addition to her husband and one son, are five siblings, Raliegh Townsend, Vivian Wrubleski, Harry Townsend, Betty Lou Goff and David Townsend. Burial in Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown, will be at a later date. As Nora was a three-time cancer survivor, memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148-0142, would be appreciated.
