Michael Dewayne Wallace, Sr.

Michael DeWayne “Mike” Wallace, Sr., 71, of Washington, departed this life, on May 13, 2021, in Allegheny General Hospital. He was born on July 7, 1949, in Longacre, WV, a son of the late Betty Jane Campbell Wallace Alexander (Frank Alexander), and Eli Wallace (Ida May). Frank and Betty raised Mike. A graduate of Fort Cherry High School, Mr. Wallace earned an Associate Degree in Architecture from the Pittsburgh Technical Institute. Mike was retired from Emway Resources Coal Mine, in Waynesburg, where he had worked as a mining foreman. A child of God, Mike was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Canonsburg. Mr. Wallace enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing cards and board games. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, and gave all he could to them. On February 6, 1970, he married Virginia J. Mack, who survives. Also surviving are nineteen siblings, Cynthia, Sylvia, Keith, Cheryl, Timmy, Nick, Theresa, Angela, Melanie, Doreatha, Toni, Traletta, Aileen, Loretta, Lorena, Shirl, Scottie, Calvin, and Marsha; six children, Timothy, Monique, Jennifer, Dorian, Ryan, and Alyssa; grandchildren, Christine, August and Sharnell, whom he raised; numerous additional grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many, many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Deceased are two sons, Michael and David; a grandson, Isaiah, whom he raised; four siblings, Steve, Anthony, Bernie and Jacquelyn; and his best friend, Allen Knapper. Friends will be received on Friday, May 21, 2021, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., the time of service, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, with Pastor Deborah Goings and Pastor Joseph Wheeler co-officiating.
