Michael “Mike” Gene Morran, 65, of Canton Township, passed away unexpectedly, on Friday night, July 21, 2023, in Jefferson Hospital, surrounded by his family. Following heart surgery, Mike had bravely battled complications for a year and a half. He was born on January 24, 1958, in Upper St. Clair, a son of the late Raymond Thomas and Eva Mae Hacker Morran. Mr. Morran was a proud United States Army veteran, stationed at Fort Bragg, Oklahoma, where his specialty was working as a diesel mechanic. He had many medals and accomplishments including being an expert marksman. Mike had worked for Sheet Metal Workers Local #12 Union for 28 years, retiring in February of 2020. He enjoyed watching movies, tinkering in his garage, yard work, dancing and singing to country and oldies music, playing video games, fishing, camping, and classic cars, especially 1957 Chevy's. Mike loved all things sports, was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and loved his time spent coaching. He was also the founder of the Washington Fall Ball League. His dogs and grand dogs brought him so much joy. The perfect neighbor, friend and family man, Mike would do anything for anyone, and could fix practically everything he was given. He was a classical joker and could make anyone laugh. What filled his heart the most was his family. Being Pop Pop to his grandsons, whom he adored, spending time with his wife and kids, and family picnics, was what he enjoyed most of all. People loved being around him, because his infectious smile and personality made everyone feel happy and loved. On April 27, 1985, he married the love of his life, Cheryl Blakeslee, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Matthew (Jordan) Morran, and Brandon (Miranda) Morran; a daughter, Ashley (Rick Wright) Morran; a brother, Ernie (Lisa) Morran; a sister, Kathleen (Steven) Edwards; his beloved grandsons, Elijah and Titus Morran; a brother-in-law, Larry Blakeslee; his mother-in-law, Mary Blakeslee; as well as many nieces and nephews. Please join the family in celebrating Mike’s life, on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a service immediately following at 7:30 p.m., in Christian Church of North America, 605 Shirls Ave., Washington, PA 15301.
