Melda McDonald, 88, of Canonsburg, died on Saturday, September 28, 2019, in the Donnell House. She was born on September 12, 1931, in Lancaster, OH, a daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Iva Pearl Gilkey Cave. A graduate of Hickory High School, she was Presbyterian by faith. Mrs. McDonald was the owner of Melda’s Nutrition Center. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, puzzles and dominoes. On March 7, 1952, she married Walter Clair McDonald, who died on April 16, 1996. Surviving are a son, Larry Eugene McDonald, of Canonsburg; three daughters, Joyce Ann (Robert) Fink, of Canonsburg, Karen Lynn (the late Bo) O’Hare, of Canonsburg, and Sandra Kay (John) Summers, of Washington; six grandchildren, Tonya, Glenn, Allen, Eric, MJ and John; eight great grandchildren, Kaylan, Taylor, Lucas, Landon, Zoe, Seth, Aiden, and Kolton; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two grandsons, Jeff and Jeremy; three sisters, Ruth Cave Kramer, Doris Cave Barney, and Genevieve Babiarz; and two brothers, Richard and Theodore Cave. Friends will be received on Thursday, October 3, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Home, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where services will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
