Matthew D. “Matt” Rizor, 38, of Washington, died on January 21, 2022, in Washington Hospital. He was born on September 28, 1983, in Washington, a son of Thomas D. and Stephanie L. “Stevie” Lacock Rizor, of Washington. A graduate of Trinity High School, Matt and had previously worked as a driver for ARC Human Services, where he really enjoyed helping people. Matt was truly passionate about airplanes and music. He spent many hours at the Washington County Airport watching the planes taking off and landing. On Matt’s 16th birthday, his parents surprised him with his first airplane ride in a Stearman biplane, owned and flown by Fred Fehling. This was the first of many flights, and the beginning of a wonderful friendship with Fred. Every time Tim Chopp’s “Spirit of Freedom," was in town, he would go to see it. The "Spirit of Freedom" is one of only five remaining Douglas C-54’s, and was used during the Berlin Airlift in the 1940’s. He really enjoyed taking flying lessons, and traveling far and wide to see and explore anything related to airplanes and music, especially his favorite band, KISS. Music was very important to him, and he enjoyed listening to it at home, watching it live, and playing the guitar. An animal lover, Matt adored his dog Tyler. Matt will be sadly missed by his mom and dad, and all who knew and loved him. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are three aunts, Barbara Lacock, of Washington, Nardis Hardie, of Washington, and Gwen Hampe, of Albuquerque, NM; three cousins, Brian (Renea) Lacock, and family, Rick Hardie, and family, and Rene Post, and family; and a close friend, Robert (Dena) Bristor.
