Mary Lee Ranko, 88, of Washington, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, in Presbyterian SeniorCare Network, Southmont, Washington. She was born November 23, 1936, in West Finley at home, a daughter of the late Charles Hughes and Ruby Sprowls Hughes. Mary was employed by USPS as a mail carrier in rural Waynesburg. She was Presbyterian by faith. When the Washington Wild Things first started, Mary and her husband hosted 67 individual team members in their home at different times. Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and loved playing cards. Surviving are her husband, Robert J. Ranko; two sons, Thomas (Kathy) Swart and Ronald (Marcy) Swart; a daughter, Jeanne Vollmer; seven grandchildren, Bob, Brian, Christina (Rusty), Bill (Ali), Jacklyn, Tim (Kelly) and Megan; seven great-grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, Noah, Logan, Alaina, Hayley and Nikolai; a brother, Leo (Janet) Hughes; a sister, Sharon (Fred) Simpson; three stepchildren, Robert (Joy) Ranko, Ronald (Marcy) Ranko and Rebecca (Steve) Paccone; seven step grandchildren, Robert (Katherine), Jonathan (Charlotte), Mackenzie (Tyler), Kyla (Vince), Julia, Mitchell and Mason; five step great-grandchildren, Izzy, Lucy, Remington, Easton and Lucia; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a brother, Earl Hughes, and a sister, Doris Stollar.
