Mary Louise Hartzog

Mary Louise Montgomery Hartzog, 70, of Washington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in her home, with her family and dog, Gypsy, by her side.

She was born on August 11,1954 in Washington, a daughter of the late Lucy Montgomery. She grew up with her six siblings, Reda, Brenda, Rebecca, John, Jim, and Bob, along with her Aunt Frances Bennett whom she loved dearly.

On February 1, 1972, Mary married Thomas “Peewee” Hartzog, Sr., with whom she is now joyfully reunited. Together they had five children, Jackie (Ken), Shawn, Amy (Kevin), Ted, and Thomas Jr. (Amanda).

Mary also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Angel (Dillon), Austin, Cheyanne (JT), Faith, Autumn, Hannah (Brandon), Summer (Caleb), Rayne (Brandin), Shawna, Jonathan, and Kaylee and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Mary knew she loved Bingo and having company. She was “Aunt Mary” to everyone. She was always fun to be around because you never knew what she might say next.

Over the last year, she spent as much time as she could with her kids and grandkids, going to the casino, dinner dates, and trips to get her nails done. She fought a hard fight against cancer for as long as she could, but now she is at peace with her Peewee.

Friends and family will be received from 12 to 2 and 5 to 7 p.m., the time of service, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
