Mary Lou Insana, 83 of Washington, died Saturday, June 16, 2018 at McMurray Hills Manor. She was born July 14, 1934 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late H. Craig Lightner and Mildred Jamison Lightner. Mary Lou graduated from Washington High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, where she was a eucharistic minister and a reader. Mary Lou enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with family. She was an avid reader and a wonderful cook. On June 6, 1952, she married Samuel J. Insana Sr., who died February 13, 2013. Surviving are three sons, Peter (Cathy) Insana of Rhode Island, Samuel (Susan) Insana Jr. of Virginia, James (Ann Marie) Insana of Florida; a daughter, Cheryl (John) Knestrick of Washington; a sister, Frances T. Rugg of Washington; six grandchildren, Kristen Stedman, Erin Marr, Marc Insana, Michelle Myers, Ryan Insana and Craig Insana; nine great grandchildren, Hanna, Jacob and Anthony Stedman, Riley, Samuel and Abigail Myers, Adeline Marr, Zachary Insana and Lucas Insana; nieces and nephews, Debbie Rugg, David Rugg, Daniel Rugg, Donald Rugg, Debbie Fakaris, Larry Insana, Carmie Frantz, Judy Brna and John White. Friends will be received Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Hilary’s Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
