Mary Jane Boardley

Mary Jane Romano Boardley, 89, of Washington, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023, in Whitetail Springs Memory Care Facility. She was born October 2, 1934, in Washington, a daughter of the late Frank Romano and Freda Toland Wilson of Washington. Mrs. Boardley loved crafts, crocheting, being outdoors, her animals, and, most especially, spending time with her family. She was an awesome cook who loved to be with people, brightening their days with her smile and kind words. Mrs. Boardley was a life member of Friendship Community Church, where she lovingly served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher for 15 plus years. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose Lodge. On April 28, 1955, she married Paul William Boardley, who died November 22, 1989. Surviving are two sons, Roger L. Boardley and William D. (Wanda) Boardley, both of Washington; eight grandchildren, Robert (Aaron) Boardley, Tabatha (Juddy) Hurst, Jason Boardley, Stacey Boardley, Mark (Heather) Romano, Kourtney Boardley, Brittney Boardley, and Sonya (Dennis) Stokes; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are three sons, Kenneth Romano, Danny Boardley, and Rickie Boardley; a grandson, Mike Romano; a sister, Elizabeth Jones; and a brother, Robert Romano. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 2nd, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 3rd. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
