Mary Elias Amshay

Mary Elias Amshay, 92, formerly of Washington, died peacefully, May 3, 2018, in North Carolina. She was born February 20, 1926, to the late Abraham and Ginny Elias.  Mary was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Amshay, and daughter, Diane Pratt.  In addition, to her husband and daughter, she was predeceased by her sister Anne Ward and brothers Joe Elias, David Elias, and Leo Elias. She is survived by her son, Don (Gayle), and granddaughter, Lara Amshay.  Mary was employed by McWreath Dairy, Hazel Atlas Glass Factory, and the Washington Hospital in the medical records department. Mary was an excellent hostess, meeting the needs of each guest.  Working in the yard and maintaining it was an enjoyment to her.  Mary and Benny made annual trips to North Carolina to visit their son and spend extra time with their granddaughter. Friends will be received on Friday, May 11th, from 9:30 till 10 a.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.  Immediately following visitation, a committal service will be held in the chapel at Washington Cemetery.
