Marie Keener

Marie Keener, 91, of Washington, died on October 8, 2021, in Southmont of Presbyterian Care. She was born on May 18, 1930, in Jefferson, a daughter of the late Harry and Florence Jenkins Harn. Marie was a graduate of Jefferson High School. She began working at GC Murphy, in Washington, then at Washington Hospital in the Hospitality Shop and as a nurse's aide for over thirty years. After retiring from the hospital, she worked as an In-Home Caregiver for the elderly and also as a waitress at Elby's. On May 21, 1950, she married Olan Ray Keener, Jr., who died on July 4, 2017. Marie is survived by a son, George A. (Suntok) Keener; a daughter, Donna Marie Grimes; a son-in-law, Robert Hodgens; a sister, Ruby Schweitzer; and four grandchildren, Melissa (David) Phelps, Kimberly Keener, Kaile Hodgens, and Lindsey (Evan) McConnell. Deceased is a daughter, Linda Pearl Hodgens. She always loved to read, watch her shows, and go to the golf course with her husband. In her later years, she enjoyed coloring, cutting out coupons for military overseas, playing bingo, and the time she spent at Senior Life. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was kind and loving to family and friends, and always had a smile to share. All services will be private, and held at the convenience of the family.
