Margaret L. Leopold

Margaret L. Rossi Leopold, 93, of Hickory, passed away on September 26, 2022, at Woodside Place in Washington. She was born on January 2, 1929, in Hickory, a daughter of the late Angelo Rossi and Iva Jane Young Rossi. A graduate of Hickory High School, she was also a member of Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church. On March 8, 1948, she married Frank Leopold, who passed away on October 13, 1999. Throughout her lifetime, Margaret worked as a home Nurses Aid, as a Banquet Hostess at the Holiday Inn, and later she cared for physically and mentally handicapped children on their rides to school. She was always taking care of those around her. Margaret loved training her Dobermans that would go on to compete in dog shows, always winning at least between 1st and 4th place. She also loved gardening and spending time with her family on holidays, as well as cooking for them. Surviving is a son, Frank R. (Rebecca) Leopold; a daughter, Cathy Whetzel-Larkin (Michael Larkin); four grandchildren, Joy Lynn (Chris) Curfman, Cynde Mitchell (Cory), Joshua Battistone, and Matthew Whetzel; as well as eight great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are four brothers, Ernest Rossi, Harry Rossi, William A. Rossi, and William Rossi; and six sisters, Jane Kraeer, Bessie Popp, Mary Chipps, Pauline Reed, Angelina King, and Alice Auld. Memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Senior Care Benevolent Fund, 835 South Main Street, Washington, PA 15301. Friends and family will gather on Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Dan Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
