Louanna Dene Chmel

Louanna Dene Chmel, 90, of Washington, died October 8, 2021, in Strabane Woods, Washington. She was born April 17, 1931, in Morris Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late Swart and Valdie Johnston. Her husband, Vincent S. Chmel, Jr., whom she married on January 30, 1954, died on April 18, 2013. Louanna was retired from Pittsburgh Paint and Glass, and was known, and recognized by many as "The Lady From the Paint Store." A member of Jefferson Avenue Methodist Church, she loved spending time with her family, traveling, and being outdoors swinging on her swing. Surviving are three children, Vincent S. (Cindy) Chmel III, of Claysville, Vicki A. (Ted) White, of Mooresville, NC, and Dean T. (Elisa) Chmel, of Wheeling, WV; five grandchildren, Sabrina (Jeremy) Beck, Erik (Haley) Chmel, Taylor (Chelsea) Chmel, Lauren (George) Mercurio, and Hunter (Kaitlyn) White; four great grandchildren, Jackson and Bailee Beck, and Lily and Thomas Mercurio; a sister-in-law, Jeanette A. Floss; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a beloved granddaughter, Alexandra D. Chmel. Louanna was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Friends will be received on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 2 until 5 p.m., the time of service (the service starting at 5 p.m.), in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, with Pastor Sue Petritis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the UPMC Benevolent Care Fund, and mailed to Strabane Woods, 319 Wellness Way, Washington, PA 15301; or to Gateway Hospice, 95 W. Beau St., Suite 510, Washington, PA 15301.
