Lois K. Cowden, 93, of Washington, died on Friday, January 19, 2018, in the Washington Hospital. She was born on October 3, 1924, in Woodrow, PA, a daughter of the late Edward P. and Hermena Somerlade Miller. A graduate of Hickory High School, she was a member of North Buffalo Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Cowden was retired from Western Center, where she had worked for eighteen years as a Physical Therapy Aid. She also worked in the Washington Hospital Hospitality Shop. Lois enjoyed bowling, fishing, and antiquing. On November 27, 1942, she married William Erwin Cowden, Sr., who died on August 8, 2014. Surviving are four children, Sandra L. (David “Bud”) Thomas, of Washington, William E. (Kathleen) Cowden, Jr., of Washington, Bradley M. (Barbara) Cowden, of Ft. White, FL, and Joyce Ann (Tim) Inglis, of Washington; four grandchildren, Melissa (Tim) Meredith, William M. (Jenn) Cowden, Stefanie (Chris) Kulla, and Julie (Chad) Durbin; and ten great grandchildren. Deceased are six brothers and sisters, William Miller, Edward Miller, Marybelle Gordon, Clara Troutman, Dorothy Laws, and Elva Miller. Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes. Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
