Linda Chase Garrett

Linda Chase Garrett, 74, of West Finley, died peacefully at home on January 16, 2024. Linda was born on October 2, 1949, in Baltimore, MD to the late William “Duffy” and Betty Burt Chase. She was a McGuffey High School graduate and went to work as a secretary for the Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC where she met her dearest and lifelong friend, Tona Pepper. They also worked together for Walmart from where she retired after 20 years. On September 13, 1968, she married her childhood sweetheart, John Garrett, with whom she made a happy home and a loving marriage. Also surviving are a daughter, Clarissa (Tom) Teagarden of West Alexander, and a son, Russell (Renee) Garrett of Claysville. Linda had eight beloved grandchildren, Tommy and Megan Teagarden, both of West Alexander, Jeremy (Katelyn) Teagarden of Midway Park, NC, Desarae (Albert) Schumacher of Washington, Joe and Mya Garrett, both of Weirton, WV. She also had three precious great grandchildren, Baylee and Addison Teagarden and Albert Schumacher IV. They brought her so much joy. The oldest of eight children, she is survived by 2 brothers, Bruce (Sandy) Chase and Ray Chase; four sisters, Susan Johnson, Judy (Ronnie) Allum, Lisa (Leroy) Powell and Jennifer Welling. Deceased are a sister, Sandi (Bill) Bentrem; three brothers-in-law, Tom Powell, Roy Welling and Jerry Johnson; and three precious nephews, James Fidler, Jacob Powell, and Ken Chase. Linda loved to read the newspaper and do crossword puzzles. She loved her coffee, and a Stephen King book was always by her bedside. Linda loved spending time with her family, especially the grandkids, and having fun with her sisters. She loved to camp and hike, drink wine, porch sit and take car rides in the fall. Linda was the best wife, mom, gramma, aunt, sister, cousin, and friend. She loved with her whole heart, and she will be so deeply missed. Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 23rd, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 24th.
