Leroy Booker

Leroy Booker, 80, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in the Washington Hospital. He was born March 27, 1937, in Washington, a son of the late Arthur Booker and Mary Hatcher Booker. Mr. Booker graduated from Washington High School.  He was a veteran of the Army, serving from June 14, 1960, until his honorable discharge on June 13, 1962, with a rank of Private First Class. Mr. Booker worked as a machine operator for Tri-State Engineering. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cooking and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are a son, Michael Lightfoot of Pittsburgh; four daughters, Sharon Lightfoot-Dyson (Robert) of New Jersey, Sydney Lightfoot of Pittsburgh, and Brenda Lightfoot and Stacey Lightfoot, both of Washington; five brothers, William Booker of Washington, Donald Booker of Seattle, Washington, Harry Booker, Lloyd Booker and Robert Booker, all of Washington; four sisters, Roberta Booker, Ernestine Marsh and Velma Bryant, all of Washington, and Louise Price of Baltimore, Maryland; six grandchildren, Stewart Johnson, Jr., Serena Johnson, Chante Dyson, Amari Lightfoot, Landi Smith and Lynzi Smith; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are his wife, Delores Lightfoot, who died September 14, 2008; two grandsons, Orlando Anderson and Sidney Johnson; and a brother, Arthur Booker. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 10th, with Rev. Eugene C. Beard, Jr., officiating.  Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
